Corrugated Box Making Solutions

Flexo Printing — Digital — Litho Laminating

Bold colors on packaging boxes and POP displays significantly influence buying decisions. Getting it right involves over a dozen variables. Printed color rejections rarely occur with us because the brand owner’s target colors were matched to the paper grades.

At Arizona Corrugated Container, our skilled press operators use the same quality board, inks, and flexo printing plates specified by you, or our experts. We can control over 100 basic process colors and coatings for each press as we only use press-ready inks regulated from computer formulas in our ink kitchen. Digital Printing

For quality graphics without printing plates, the CalBox Group offers super-wide format digital printing by our in-house structural and graphic designers. They enable us to be a flawless full-service design provider.

“Our state-of-the-art digital printer in line with a digital die cutter represents the latest proactive practices involved in the best optimal box print performance as well as customization.”

-Chris Widera, CEO

Litho Laminating

CalBox Group also provides full or spot litho labeling on three of the largest laminators and die cutters on the West Coast.

All of our facilities offer a photographic process that combines the strength of corrugated sheets with fine quality offset litho-laminate capabilities.

We can also litho-laminate or print our micro fluted durable corrugated board to resemble visually appealing, lightweight fluted folding cartons.

Converting Sheets to Packaging Boxes

Our high-performance converting machines feed, print, score, slot, die cut, glue, fold, and stack. With this modern digital capital equipment, we provide customers with continuity of graphic craftsmanship while meeting brand strategy with our high quality standards. We are ISO 9001 quality certified.

Our flat sheets have perfect flute profiles due to non-crush flute technology, providing unmatched stacking strength for warehousing boxes.

Our state-of-the-art converting differentiates us from local competition and brings value to our brand investment. The confidence for a mutually rewarding success requires a certain leap of faith.

To ensure “On Time with Quality,” we:

  • Invest in data management and automated production monitoring
  • Offer laser-made printing and cutting dies to a 1/32 of an inch registration and print quality
  • Fingerprint all presses to determine print compatibility
  • Maintain print consistency, crucial to brand integrity
  • Print with no crush flutes using vacuum transfer and computerized caliper settings
  • Offer digital or flexo (water-based) printing
  • Provide expert trapping, screening, and plate proofing
  • Offer litho laminating with offset printing sheets
  • Maintain two specialty gluers for trays, auto lock bottoms, snap locks, and more styles
  • Use soy or water-based GCMI and PMS flexo inks mixed in-house, in our ink kitchens
  • Provide durable, high-gloss coatings
  • Use modern dryers for fast drying on clay-coated sheets
  • Maintain six multi-color flexo-folder-gluers in SoCal
  • Ensure all machinery is computerized fast setup

On Time with Quality Control

Everyone talks about quality, but few have a firm understanding of how to quantify it. The days of making a box with marginal quality are over. Orders today are rejected because the blue ink is dark blue, not midnight blue. Quality requirements range far beyond just making and printing packaging boxes.

ACC conducts tests on boxes for Arizona’s heat and humidity conditions. To ensure consistent quality controlled paper, we run random tests for caliper, edge crush, ring crush, flat crush, pin adhesion, and basis weight measurements.

We are ISO 9001 and AIB (Food) Quality Certified. It means identifying any cause and taking corrective action. Why? The standard of acceptance keeps rising higher and higher. Quality results don’t just happen by chance at ACC.

As box manufacturers, we produce better performance packaging that conforms to alternate Rule 41/Item 222 without “over-packaging.” How? Our ECT board is converted over “no crush” vacuum transfers in our corrugator and printing presses, creating consistent top-to-bottom box compression for maximum stacking strength. ECT exceeds the required bursting test of the sheet converted to a box. Therefore, it is ideal for protection, shipping, and warehousing.

Yes, quality counts! This control improves the rigidity and quality of graphics of all our grades of ECT liners and boxes. Our customers expect to get what they pay for and pay for what they get.

Logistic Computerized Schedules and Tracking

The scheduling supervisor coordinates and confirms the production and shipping dates, quantities, color, and die-cutting with visual analytics. It allows data-driven decisions.

Using GPS, automated trip logs, and analytics — and by extension, the true cost of serving the customer — can be a reality check.

Corrugator scheduling also selects the appropriate paper grade from our roll stock inventory. We can customize many board combinations to match your specifications.

Inventory is bar coded, allowing each order being shipped to be tracked by computer, cameras, and monitors throughout the entire manufacturing and delivery process. Customers can view their monthly usage reports and delivery status to forecast repeat orders via our Customer Care Portal.

The CalBox Group, our parent company, rates vendors and, in turn, we are rated by our customers on delivery performance each month. This is a ratio of the number of schedules completed and delivered on time to the total number of schedules required:

On time delivery performance % = number of complete schedules on time divided by the number of schedules on order x 100

Propel Your Logistics to Accountability

Our computerized shipping departments schedule just-in-time (JIT) delivery requirements for our packaging boxes, using our own fleet of trucks and drivers. Courier trucks speed up delivery of free samples and small hot orders.

Smart, strategic warehousing is another integral factor.

“The popular belief is the 80/20 rule, where 20% of products make up 80% of shipments. Well, we believe in the 100% on-time rule. Nobody likes to wait,” says Chris Morales, one of our shipping managers.

“My drivers foster our culture of respect, transparency, and teamwork that drives on-time deliveries.”
